therapy for individuals
There are myriad reasons people seek out psychotherapy. Perhaps you are in a life transition and feeling lost. Perhaps you are struggling with depression or anxiety. Perhaps your relationships are riddled with conflict, or a lack of connectedness. Perhaps you are ready to process childhood trauma. Whatever your reasons are, therapy offers you the opportunity to change your life. I work with children, teens and adults, and some modalities I use are:PsychodynamicsIFS/Parts workEMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing)CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy)DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy)Solutions-focused therapyACT (acceptance and commitment therapy)Gestalt
Therapy for couples
Relationship distress is caused by myriad factors. In my work with couples, we explore the underlying themes of this distress, identifying each partner’s nervous system responses when their core needs for attachment are threatened. We deepen into past experiences and the impact they have on the narratives that each partner holds about themselves. Then, we build in tools in order for partners to better regulate themselves and each other in times of stress. I also offer discernment counseling, which is appropriate when one partner, or both are unsure whether they want to commit to the relationship. Some modalities used are:PACT (psychobiological approach to couples therapy)EFT (emotion-focused therapyGottman method
solutions-oriented therapy
Solutions-oriented therapy is a shorter-term approach in which we focus on solutions rather than analyzing problems at depth. Together, we collaborate on SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, time-bound), pay attention to the ways in which your life is already going well, and build on your existing strengths and resources to create a doable plan. We stay anchored in the present and future, instead of focusing on the past. While this therapy works well for all ages, it tends to work very well with younger teens/middle-schoolers. This therapy usually lasts anywhere from four to six months.coaching
Coaching is fueled by the question, "What do you really, really want?"While there are overlaps between coaching and therapy, with coaching we spend less time processing the past and more time focusing on strengths, and practicing new behaviors. In coaching, I support clients in holding themselves accountable and clearing obstacles out of the way as they set and move toward goals that are aligned with their life's purpose.
